������ý has appointed Dr. Jennifer Simpson as provost, strengthening the university’s commitment to academic excellence, accreditation compliance, and student-centered leadership. 

With more than 13 years of higher education experience at ������ý, Dr. Simpson brings a proven record of maintaining academic compliance, enhancing academic quality, and providing strategic leadership across academic programs and services. 

Leading the Office of Academic Affairs 

As provost and chief academic officer, Dr. Simpson will oversee the Office of Academic Affairs, providing vision and direction for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral academic programs. She will ensure the university remains in compliance with programmatic, state, and regional accreditation standards while continuing to strengthen its academic foundation. 

“Dr. Simpson has served ������ý with integrity, wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to academic excellence,” said Dr. Quentin Young, president of ������ý. “Her leadership during our recent reaffirmation visit reflects not only her attention to detail, but also her deep belief in the transformative power of education. She understands both the responsibility and the opportunity before us. I am confident that as provost, she will continue to strengthen our academic foundation while helping us innovate and grow in ways that best serve our students.” 

Academic Leadership and Advancement at ������ý 

Dr. Simpson’s journey at University of the ������ý reflects steady advancement through faculty and academic leadership roles. She began her career as an assistant professor and progressed to full professor, gaining firsthand insight into the classroom experience and academic environment at ������ý. 

Her excellence in teaching and scholarship led to her appointment as chair of the Department of Leadership Studies, followed by her role as dean of the Graduate School, where she championed high-quality instruction and program development. Most recently, she served as associate provost for academic compliance, supporting institutional integrity and continuous improvement. 

Dr. Simpson has also been recognized by the Kentucky House of Representatives for her work in literacy through the Adolescent Literacy Coaching Project at Eastern Kentucky University. In addition to her administrative leadership, she has authored several academic articles and co-authored one book.

A two-time graduate of ������ý, Dr. Simpson brings a personal perspective to the role of provost. Her experience as both student and academic leader positions her to understand and support the needs of ������ý students across all levels of study.
