Catherine Ball joined the History, Political Science, and Pre-Law Department in 2019, where she teaches courses in Legal Studies and Political Science. A member of both the Kentucky Bar Association and the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States, Dr. Ball brings more than two decades of experience in Kentucky鈥檚 executive and judicial branches to the classroom. Her public service experience includes serving as General Counsel for the Kentucky Governor鈥檚 Office of Agricultural Policy and as Staff Attorney for the Kentucky Administrative Office of the Courts, where she works on matters involving public policy, government administration, and judicial operations.

Her research focuses on collaborative governance, public leadership, and justice reform in rural communities, with a focus on procedural justice, and community engagement. She also serves on multiple workgroups for the Kentucky Judicial Commission on Mental Health.

She played a key role in developing the University鈥檚 Legal Studies curriculum and serves as faculty advisor for both the 果冻传媒 Civic Society and Phi Alpha Delta. Committed to student success, Dr. Ball mentors students pursuing careers in law, public service, government, and public policy. She seeks to develop leaders who are grounded in ethical decision-making, civic engagement, and service to their communities. 

Outside the classroom, Dr. Ball and her husband enjoy traveling with two children and are active members of Immanuel Baptist Church in Corbin. Her life verse is Micah 6:8: 鈥淭o act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.鈥
